On Thursday morning from 4-7 a.m., Engineering IT (EIT) will perform the first phase
of two network maintenance operations.
Phase 1 - We will perform a network configuration change that will affect staff
and faculty private networks. During the network configuration change, network service on the
staff and faculty private networks will be interrupted for approximately one hour. After
the configuration change, the firewall will be restarted affecting ALL the Engineering
networks for approximately 10 minutes.
Note: To restore network connectivity, everyone will need to reboot their
Windows workstations in the SEAS domain Thursday morning when they arrive.
Technical details: We are moving NAT from the router to the firewall services modul,
which is better suited to handle network loads generated by the School of Engineering and Applied
Science. This network configuration change has been tested and actively in
production on other networks.
Phase 2 - We will perform a software/security upgrade on the School of Engineering and Applied
Science router during the week of September 21. We will send a follow up
reminder e-mail a few days before the service interruption.
For questions or concerns, please send an e-mail to support@seas.wustl.edu or call
the EIT Help Desk at 935-5097.
Thank you for your continued patience,
Engineering IT
